Smart Lipo treatment
is one of the most popular fat removal procedures at our
clinic in London, UK. Using laser lipolysis techniques to remove
unwanted fatty deposits, smart lipo proves to be an excellent
alternative to traditional liposuction, with far less discomfort
and bruising. The treatment is performed under local anesthetic
and patients are able to return to usual activity within as little
as 24 hours. At the Wimpole Aesthetic Centre, Dr Berkowitz uses
an advanced smart lipo laser to perform the treatment - something
which stands him above his competitors. This superior equipment

Due to the popularity of Smart Lipo,

1) A brief background to the Smart Lipo treatment.
Using highly developed and tested laser technology, Smart Lipo
breaks down fat cells and reduces them to an oily substance which
can be easily absorbed and expelled naturally by the patient's
body, leaving the treated area slimmer, more defined and pleasing
to the eye. The treatment is non-invasive and does not inflict
vast amounts of pain to those undergoing it, therefore making
it far more appealing than traditional Liposuction, which is often
viewed as a fairly aggressive procedure.
2) What areas can be treated by Smart Lipo?
The most common areas that Smart Lipo is applied to are the chin,
cheeks, neck, arms, tummy, love handles, the bottom, the inner
and outer thighs and also on males who are experiencing breasts
which are larger than normal. Generally, the Smart Lipo procedure
can be used to combat most areas with excess fat.
3) How long does it take to see the results of Smart Lipo?
Most Smart Lipo patients start seeing significant improvements
within a few weeks and the true benefits of the procedure are
realised in up to 4 months. Results are permanent as the body
does not create new fat cells, and should you experience some
weight gain in the future the fat would tend to be distributed
elsewhere.
4) The Smart Lipo Consultation
The consultation is of great importance and at the Wimpole Aesthetic
Centre, London, we aim to answer all of your questions and get
you fully prepared for the treatment during your one-to-one meeting
with our Smart Lipo doctor, Josh Berkowitz.
Your first Smartlipo consultation will last about an hour and
is free of charge. You will be expected to give comprehensive
information regarding past medical history and current medical
status. You will be asked detailed questions about the result
you hope to achieve and, following an examination, Dr Berkowitz
will give you a full assessment. This will include the likely
outcome of the treatment as well as an explanation of the risks
and benefits of the treatment. The doctor may also suggest alternative
or adjunctive therapies if required and will advise you about
weight control, diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes that he/she
feels you should make.
Dr Berkowitz prefers to not perform the procedure on the same
day as the initial consultation, so as to allow the patient
some time to fully absorb the information provided to them and
to make a sound decision.
5) Is Smart Lipo suitable for anybody?
The Smart Lipo fat reduction treatment is ideal for candidates
who are not obese or excessively overweight. Individuals who are
of a fairly average weight but who have specific areas of stubborn
fat, such as double chins, love handles and areas of fat on the
abdominals, tend to respond far more positively to the Smart Lipo
procedure.
6) Smart Lipo versus Liposuction
There are several key reasons why many patients are now opting
for Smart Lipo as opposed to the more traditional Liposuction:
- Smart Lipo requires only local anaesthetic; not a full general
anaesthetic.
- Smart Lipo has minimal discomfort compared to traditional liposuction.
- Smart Lipo requires minimal downtime. Return to activity next
