Good nutrition is vital for your good health and, in order to feel great, have lots of energy and look your best, you need a healthy and well balanced diet. Our nutritional advisers and therapists are able to help you devise and maintain a diet that suits your needs and body-weight goals.
About NutritionDieting is about losing weight, but the sad fact is that ‘diets’ do not work. Dieting often results in short term weight loss followed by rebound weight gain with many dieters ending up the same weight, and unfortunately some even heavier. Sustainable, long-term weight management, is about being healthy, rather than about being skinny. Approaching weight loss in this way ensures that your metabolism and hormones stay balanced, cravings and hunger are reduced or eliminated, and energy levels stay regular or are improved.
The importance of good nutritionGood nutrition is vital for your good health. In order to feel great, have lots of energy and look your best you need a healthy and well balanced diet. In much the same way as oil, water and petrol is to the car, so you need to provide your body with the raw materials it needs to function optimally. While an apple is better for us than a candy bar, sometimes good nutrition is more than just common sense. Everybody’s body is unique, and has nutritional needs that are specific. Optimal nutrition means getting the right balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, plus all the vitamins, minerals, fibre, water and anti-oxidants to suit the individual needs of your body. You may have very specific health/medical problems. We will be able to advise you on a nutrition plan that will help to restore your heath. We can advise you on which foods will have the extra ingredients that you need.
What to expect from a consultationAfter filling in a nutrition questionnaire, the consultation contains three main components:
- The first focuses on gaining an insight into your current health goals, concerns and history.
- The second looks at what might be contributing to the problems you are having or the obstacles preventing you from achieving your goal, and aims to help you understand your body and health better.
- The third is the plan of action. This will involve dietary and lifestyle changes.
