About Thermage Skin Rejuvenation Treatment:
Thermage Skin Rejuventation Treatment (now available at Wimpole Aesthetic Centre in London) is a completely non-invasive treatment that is clinically proven to tighten skin, improve tone, contour and texture.
This rejuvenating procedure works by tightening your existing collagen and stimulating new collagen growth, this means that improvements are not only immediately visible but will continue for up to six months. The procedure is usually done in a single session that takes between 20 minutes and two hours depending on the area that is to be treated. Recovery is fast, and pain free.
Is Thermage for me?
As we get older our skin loses natural moisture and elasticity when our collagen molecules breakdown resulting in a wrinkled, lined and dry skin texture.
Thermage Skin Rejuvenation Treatment is suitable for all skin types and colours. The treatment will rejuvenate skin by working on the existing collagen making it tighter and stimulating new growth. The result will be smoother tighter skin that will appear younger and less wrinkled or lax.
Women between the ages of 35-60 normally have the best and most predictable results, although a consultation with Dr Berkowitz at the Wimpole Aesthetics Centre will be able to determine predicted individual outcomes.
How does the Thermage treatment work?
Facial skin is made up from 3 layers - The outer layer (the epidermis), a collagen- rich underlayer (the dermis) and an inner layer beneath the dermis (the subcutaneous layer - also known as the fat layer) which has a web of collagen fibres running through it.
Thermage treatment is the only non invasive procedure available that tightens and renews your skin’s collagen in all three layers. By using unique Capacitive Radiofrequency (CRF) technology that safely heats your skin’s collagen, the skin will immediately tighten and become smoother in texture and tone. New collagen growth will mean that the results will continue to appear over time.
Normally, the complete procedure will take from 20 minutes to two hours, depending on the treatment area. General anesthesia is not required, but to make sure you are comfortable the doctor may offer light pain medications prior to treatment.
What does the Thermage procedure feel like?
As the CRF energy is delivered to the skin and underlying tissue a brief deep heating sensation will be experienced. This deep heating sensation is an indication that collagen is reaching effective temperatures for tightening.
The surface of the skin is cooled before, during, and after each application of CRF energy, this will protect the skin and make the treatment more comfortable.
Post-Procedure:
After the Thermage Skin Rejuvenation Treatment, the skin may be slightly red or swollen for a day or two. But most people resume regular activities immediately after treatment, and unlike surgery there is no downtime or special follow-up care.
Following the procedure, you should continue to see improvements to your skin as a result of the production of new and increased collagen, as well as some additional contouring effects due to continued tightening over time. These effects will continue for up to six months.
